Major Boost: Washington Huskies’ Danny Sprinkle Land 1 of Big Ten’s best transfers after the portal closes

Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies have made a significant splash in the transfer portal following his first year as head coach in Seattle. While that inaugural season was underwhelming from a performance standpoint, Washington has created real momentum by dramatically reshaping its roster through impactful portal additions.

Though the Huskies also brought in a solid freshman class, their transfer portal work stood out, securing what 247 Sports ranks as the No. 4 transfer class in the Big Ten, trailing only Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana. That’s a strong showing in a conference known for its competitiveness in men’s basketball.

What’s exciting for Huskies fans is that these additions are poised to contribute immediately. With five four-star transfers covering needs across every position, Washington has not only addressed its depth issues but also given its younger players time to develop without being thrown into the fire too soon.

While nothing is guaranteed, this transfer class puts Washington in excellent company. With a well-balanced mix of experience and youth, Sprinkle’s second season could mark a turning point in the program’s rebuild.

Rather than overloading the roster like Indiana and Iowa—who added a combined 17 transfers—Washington opted for a more measured approach. By combining five strong portal additions with four promising freshmen, Sprinkle has laid a stable foundation for the future of Huskies basketball.
