The New England Patriots added 18 undrafted free agents following a successful draft weekend, where they made 11 picks over seven rounds in the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to NESN.com, tight end CJ Dippre has the strongest chance of sticking with the Patriots beyond training camp. NFL analyst Nick Baumgardner echoed this sentiment, calling Dippre the Patriots’ top find post-draft.
“Although Dippre (6-4, 256) wasn’t drafted, he was an excellent run blocker at Alabama and contributed in multiple roles, including on special teams, with relentless effort and intensity,” Baumgardner stated. “He may not be a high-volume receiver, but he could be valuable to Mike Vrabel in the running game. Also, keep an eye on Eastern Washington WR Efton Chism III.”

Dippre was a two-year starter for Alabama, playing an average of 38.2 offensive snaps per game as a key blocker in the Crimson Tide’s offense. In 2024, he played 14 games without any penalties. He impressed at the scouting combine, running the third-fastest 40-yard dash (4.69) and posting the highest bench press reps (32) among tight ends.
In the 2024 season, Dippre recorded 21 receptions for 256 yards, ranking third in both categories for Alabama. Over two seasons, he appeared in 27 games, starting 24. While Dippre may find a spot in the tight end room, it’s unlikely he will replace established players like Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper anytime soon.
