Giants Make Bold Move, Reuniting Brian Daboll with Recently Released Playmaker for Offensive Boost, Read More >>>,,,,,,

The New York Giants’ offense struggled mightily last season and is in desperate need of more playmakers and depth. Recently, veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis, who has ties to head coach Brian Daboll, was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, presenting the Giants with a potential free agent option to consider.

Davis, who was let go by the Jaguars after a disappointing 2024 season, could pique the Giants’ interest due to his previous successful tenure with Buffalo, where he played under Daboll from 2020 to 2023.

The 26-year-old wideout had 163 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns across four seasons with the Bills, making him a valuable contributor in Daboll’s system. Despite a lackluster 2024 season in Jacksonville, Davis’ familiarity with Daboll’s offense could make him an appealing depth piece for the Giants.

However, the Giants’ financial situation complicates any potential signing. With only $1.1 million in cap space, and effectively -$9.3 million after signing their projected rookie class, the Giants are currently capped out.

In order to make any moves, they’ll need to clear cap space, possibly by cutting or restructuring contracts. As a result, while Davis could be a potential option for the Giants later in the offseason or during training camp once their cap situation is addressed, it remains uncertain if they will be able to bring him in.

In the meantime, the Giants are expected to rely on players like Jalin Hyatt, who new quarterback Russell Wilson believes still has untapped potential. While Davis may seem like an intriguing fit, the Giants’ tight cap space will be a significant hurdle for this reunion to take place anytime soon.
