Michigan State is continuing to strengthen its secondary via the transfer portal.

On Tuesday, East Carolina defensive back Dontavius Nash announced on social media that he’s transferring to the Spartans.

A former four-star prospect who began his college career at North Carolina, Nash has recorded 60 tackles and two interceptions over 33 games.

He’s now the third defensive back to join MSU this spring, alongside JUCO All-American Anthony Pinnace and Bowling Green’s Tracy Revels.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds, Nash hails from North Carolina and played in 10 games for the Tar Heels over two seasons before transferring to ECU in 2023.

There, he posted a career-best 34 tackles and a pick-six, followed by 24 tackles, another interception, and four pass breakups last season.

While starters Nikai Martinez and Malik Spencer return at safety, Michigan State is revamping its secondary through portal additions.

Nash becomes the sixth scholarship transfer of the spring, joining Pinnace, Revels, EDGE rushers Isaac Smith (Texas Tech) and Cam Williams (Georgia State), and tight end Kai Rios (Indiana State).
