Big Thing Coming: Insider Reveals Yankees’ Plans for Potential Signing of $120 Million Star Infielder from Rival Red Sox

An MLB insider has revealed that the New York Yankees are eyeing a major move this upcoming offseason, with their sights set on a star infielder currently playing for their historic rivals, the Boston Red Sox.

According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, veteran infielder Alex Bregman—who signed a three-year, $120 million deal with Boston—is likely to opt out of his contract. Bowden believes the Yankees will be among the top contenders to sign him if he becomes available.

“Bregman turned down a longer, richer offer from the Tigers last offseason to join the Red Sox, where he quickly became a team leader,” Bowden noted. “Now having one of his best offensive seasons in years, he’ll likely test free agency again—this time with an even stronger market.”

The Yankees, who have long struggled to find a consistent option at third base, could see Bregman as a solution to that lingering issue. With Oswaldo Cabrera sidelined for the season due to a fractured ankle and DJ LeMahieu working his way back from injury, the need for a long-term answer at third has never been more pressing.

Bregman, a two-time All-Star with both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger to his name, would be a major upgrade. While he remains focused on helping Boston win this season, his potential free agency looms large—and the Yankees appear ready to make a serious push if he becomes available.
