Tigers Land Top Talent: Former Rival Team Key-Man Commits to Mizzou

Former Pepperdine standout Chloe Sotell has officially committed to join the Missouri women’s basketball program, becoming the latest addition to a rapidly evolving Tigers roster.

The 6-foot guard made her announcement earlier this week through an Instagram post, generating buzz among fans and insiders alike.

A team spokesperson later confirmed that Sotell was the mystery recruit alluded to in head coach Kellie Harper’s cryptic “bat-signal” post on X (formerly Twitter) last week, which hinted that a significant roster addition was imminent.

Sotell is now the seventh player to commit to Mizzou through the transfer portal this offseason, as Coach Harper and her staff continue reshaping the team in preparation for the upcoming season.

With her addition, the Tigers gain not only a talented guard with high potential but also a player who already has meaningful Division I experience under her belt.

As a freshman at Pepperdine, Sotell led the team in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per game across 30 appearances. She was a key contributor in nearly every area of the game, also recording 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest.

Starting in 26 of those games and averaging 29 minutes per outing, Sotell quickly established herself as one of the Waves’ most reliable and dynamic players.

Her on-court maturity, versatility, and leadership made her a standout freshman and an appealing option for programs looking to strengthen their backcourt.

Originally from California, Sotell’s move to Mizzou marks a new chapter in her basketball journey—one that comes with elevated expectations and opportunities.

The Tigers are clearly positioning themselves for a competitive run in the SEC, and Sotell’s arrival brings a blend of scoring, playmaking, and defensive tenacity that should fit seamlessly into Missouri’s system.

Her transfer also reflects the broader impact of the NCAA transfer portal, which continues to transform college basketball by allowing athletes more flexibility in choosing where to play.

For Missouri, this offseason has been about capitalizing on that movement, and the addition of a player like Sotell—who still has multiple years of eligibility—signals a strategic investment in both the present and future of the program.

With her proven production and upside, Chloe Sotell could be a key piece for Mizzou as they aim to climb the SEC standings and return to national relevance. Her development will be one to watch closely as she adapts to the challenges of one of the nation’s toughest basketball conferences.
