The Cardinals have placed outfielder Jordan Walker on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 29) due to inflammation in his left wrist.
Additionally, right-hander Gordon Graceffo has been optioned to Triple-A, while right-hander Roddery Muñoz and utility player Ryan Vilade have been called up from Triple-A. Vilade’s contract has been selected to the major league roster.
Walker’s injury comes just as he was beginning to break out of a prolonged slump. After struggling with a .502 OPS over his first 138 plate appearances, he had recently turned things around, batting .333/.353/.545 in his last 34.
This stretch has marked Walker’s first extended run of everyday play in the big leagues, where he’s served as the Cardinals’ primary right fielder for much of 2025.
The Cardinals entered the season focused on developing young talent, keeping Walker in the lineup through his early-season struggles.

With him now sidelined, Alec Burleson or Brendan Donovan are likely to see more outfield time, with Donovan’s move possibly creating more infield opportunities for Nolan Gorman at second base.
Vilade’s versatility will give the Cardinals added depth. The 26-year-old is nearing his first MLB action of 2025, having impressed at Triple-A Memphis, where he played all three outfield spots and multiple infield positions.
He’s also posted strong offensive numbers, slashing .280/.375/.476 in 192 plate appearances.
In the majors, Vilade has appeared in just 20 games — three with the Rockies in 2021 and 17 with the Tigers last year — and holds a career .416 OPS in 56 plate appearances.
However, he’s been a steady offensive contributor in Triple-A over the last four seasons.
