The Texas Rangers made a significant roster move by placing starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list due to right triceps soreness, a decision the team described as precautionary.
Eovaldi, one of the key arms in the Rangers’ rotation, had been experiencing mild fatigue in his throwing arm, and while the team doesn’t believe it’s a serious issue, they opted to give him rest to prevent a more serious injury from developing.
The veteran right-hander is expected to miss only a short stretch and could be back in action by mid-June if his recovery progresses without setbacks.
To fill Eovaldi’s spot on the active roster, the Rangers recalled right-handed reliever Codi Heuer, marking his return to the major leagues for the first time since 2021.

Heuer, once a promising arm with the White Sox and Cubs, has spent the past few years rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and a subsequent elbow fracture that delayed his comeback.
He’s been performing well in the minors, and the Rangers hope he can bolster their bullpen depth. In a corresponding move to make room on the 40-man roster, veteran catcher Tucker Barnhart was designated for assignment.
The Rangers will now evaluate Heuer’s readiness while closely monitoring Eovaldi’s health, hoping to maintain momentum in a tightly contested AL West race.
