The Pirates have officially announced the addition of guard Patrick “Paddy” D’Arcy to their roster.
D’Arcy joins the team after spending a season with the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s premier professional league, the NBL, where he was the youngest player to take the court this season. Following his time with the 36ers, he played for the Sturt Sabres in the NBL1, averaging 7.4 points per game and earning the Steve Johansen Trophy as the best player under 23.
The Australian native also played a key role in leading his national team to gold at the 2024 Albert Schweitzer Tournament, averaging 4.7 points with an impressive 41% shooting from three-point range across seven games.
ad coach Michael Schwartz expressed excitement about the signing, praising D’Arcy’s strong work ethic and academic commitment. Schwartz noted that Paddy’s size and shooting ability will immediately boost the Pirates, highlighting his experience competing at a high level in Australia alongside former NBA talent.

During the 2024 U20 National Championships, D’Arcy stood out by averaging 17.9 points per game and leading the nation in three-pointers made at over 40% accuracy, while also topping the competition in steals. In the championship game, he delivered a stellar performance with 24 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists on 77% shooting, helping South Australia defeat the Australian Capital Territory.
The year before, at the 2023 U18 National Championships, D’Arcy averaged 17.1 points per game and again led the nation in three-pointers made, maintaining a long-range shooting percentage above 40%.
