Veteran pitcher Mike Mayers has officially retired from Major League Baseball after an eight-year career that included time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, and Kansas City Royals.
The 33-year-old right-hander announced his decision on LinkedIn, reflecting on 12 years in professional baseball and expressing gratitude for the relationships, memories, and support that shaped his journey.
Mayers was drafted by the Cardinals in 2013 and debuted in 2016, eventually becoming a reliable bullpen arm. His standout stretch came with the Angels, particularly in the 2020 season when he posted a 2.10 ERA and was named AL Reliever of the Month.
Though his performance fluctuated in later years, including brief stints with the Royals, White Sox, and Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate, Mayers earned accolades such as Texas League All-Star and finished his MLB career with a 12–11 record and 5.21 ERA.
In his farewell message, he thanked his teammates, coaches, fans, and especially his wife and family for their unwavering support.
