Adolis García is back in the Texas Rangers’ starting lineup, and what happens next may determine his long-term future with the team.
After sitting out the entire series against the Cardinals to recalibrate his plate approach, García returned against Tampa Bay, going 2-for-6 over two games.
While his current production — a .212 average, .627 OPS, 7 home runs, and 27 RBI — falls well short of expectations, the Rangers are hoping his time off will help him rediscover the form that once made him one of their most dangerous bats.
Manager Bruce Bochy emphasized the need for García to improve his discipline at the plate and return to hitting to all fields.
If he succeeds, the Rangers’ offense could get the spark it desperately needs. If he doesn’t, García risks losing his spot in the lineup — and possibly his place on the roster beyond 2025.
Defensively, García remains elite, ranking near the top in both range and arm strength.
But the emergence of young outfielders Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Alejandro Osuna — all under longer team control — puts added pressure on García to perform offensively.
Adolis García
Signed to a two-year deal post-World Series, García is under team control through 2026, but the Rangers could explore trading or non-tendering him this offseason if his struggles persist.
With payroll concerns and rising young talent, the next few months will be pivotal in determining whether García’s future remains in Texas.
