University of Miami men’s basketball head coach Jai Lucas announced Friday afternoon that forward Timotej Malovec has officially signed with the program.
The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Slovakian joins the Hurricanes after competing with Mega Superbet in the ABA League First Division.
“Timotej is a highly versatile player who can drive to the rim and stretch the floor with his shooting,” Lucas said. “His international experience and maturity make him a strong addition to our team. We’re excited to have him in Miami.”
During the 2024-25 season with Mega Superbet, Malovec averaged 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, while connecting on 36.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Malovec has played for Slovakia at both the youth and senior national levels, including the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers, where he posted 8.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over six games.
In the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B, he averaged 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
