End of the Road: Texas Rangers Key Arm Forced to Step Away After Heartbreaking Career-Ending Injury Shakes Team

The Texas Rangers have largely dodged major injuries to their elite starting rotation this season. While Jack Leiter dealt with a blister, Kumar Rocker missed time due to a shoulder issue, and Nathan Eovaldi is currently sidelined with elbow inflammation, none of these setbacks have been long-term.

However, left-hander Cody Bradford has been out since Opening Day with a significant elbow injury — but he’s finally making progress.

Bradford recently threw to live hitters for the first time since being placed on the 60-day IL and reported feeling good afterward.

He’s scheduled for another session this weekend and could begin a rehab assignment soon, with hopes of returning by July 4.

Bradford has been a valuable depth piece for Texas over the past two seasons, contributing both as a starter and reliever.

Though injuries have hampered his consistency, his effectiveness when healthy makes him a key left-handed option for a rotation that currently lacks southpaws outside of Patrick Corbin.

After a strong 2023 and a solid showing last season despite missing time with a back strain, Bradford could soon give the Rangers’ pitching staff a much-needed boost.
