MAJOR BREAKING: Reds Reportedly Eye Aggressive Trade For Talented Young Outfielder Ahead Of Deadline.

The Cincinnati Reds are clearly in win-now mode, as shown by their decision to quickly promote top pitching prospect Chase Burns to the majors rather than keeping him in the minors for further development.

With the trade deadline approaching, they have another chance to show their urgency by making a bold move or two. According to Sports Illustrated’s Nicholas Selbe, one such move could be trading for Miami Marlins outfielder Jesús Sánchez.

Selbe noted that while Sánchez has yet to fully deliver on his potential, his 2024 season included 18 home runs and 16 stolen bases, and his physical tools—elite bat speed and a powerful 6-foot-4 frame—suggest untapped upside.

Although his current performance (99 wRC+) hasn’t stood out, he remains an intriguing option for a team seeking a cost-controlled, experienced bat. Sánchez is under contract through 2027, making him more valuable than a short-term rental.

For a Reds team that’s relied on players like Connor Joe and Garrett Hampson in the outfield, acquiring Sánchez—even if he’s not a top need—would add much-needed offensive upside and energize the fan base.

If Cincinnati can unlock his full potential, Sánchez could become a regular 20-homer, 20-steal contributor in the years ahead.
