Veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is having one of the finest seasons of his career, posting a 7–3 record with a stellar 1.58 ERA and 94 strikeouts over 16 starts for the Texas Rangers.
Aside from a brief stint on the injured list, the 35-year-old has been outstanding, and if he keeps this up, he’s on track for the best ERA of his career.
Despite his elite performance, Eovaldi was left off this year’s MLB All-Star roster. He had previously earned All-Star honors in 2021 and 2023, but this time, his start on Sunday made him ineligible as a replacement.
Instead, pitchers like Tarik Skubal, Max Fried, and Jacob deGrom were selected to represent the American League.
Although Eovaldi didn’t make the team, the Rangers still awarded him the $100,000 All-Star bonus written into his contract, signaling their belief that he’s played at an All-Star level.
Now in his third season with Texas, Eovaldi remains a vital piece of the rotation, helping the Rangers lead MLB in team ERA after playing a key role in their 2023 World Series championship.
