Blockbuster Trade Alert: Reds Stun MLB World by Acquiring Elite Outfield Weapon from Marlins in Bold Deadline Move to Ignite Playoff Run

The Cincinnati Reds could have a prime opportunity to bolster their outfield before this year’s MLB trade deadline. Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Miami Marlins are open to moving outfielder Dane Myers.

Known for his elite defensive skills, Myers has posted 4 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and 4 Outs Above Average (OAA) this season — metrics that surpass the defensive performance of current Reds outfielders like Will Benson, Jake Fraley, and Austin Hays.

Offensively, Myers excels against left-handed pitching — a weakness for Cincinnati. He’s slashing .324/.385/.493 with a .146 wRC+ against southpaws, making him a valuable platoon option.

His addition would also free manager Terry Francona from having to shift infielders like Noelvi Marte or Santiago Espinal to the outfield.

While Myers remains under team control for four more years, which could increase his trade value, his age (29) suggests the Marlins won’t demand an excessive return.

Rosenthal notes that Miami likely won’t let him go without a fight, but the presence of top prospect Jakob Marsee makes Myers more available.

The Marlins are clearly in rebuilding mode, and the Reds have the prospect depth to get a deal done.

While they may be hesitant to part with top names like Sal Stewart or Chase Burns, a package built around Edwin Arroyo, Adam Serwinowski, or Chase Petty could be enough to land Myers.

Cincinnati recently avoided a sweep by the Nationals and sits just 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. Acquiring Myers — potentially along with bullpen help — could significantly boost their playoff push.
