The Cincinnati Reds made several roster changes this afternoon ahead of their series opener at Great American Ball Park against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Right-handed reliever Luis Mey has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville, filling in for Scott Barlow, who is on paternity leave.

Mey spent all of May with the Reds, performing well in his first three weeks by allowing just four hits and two runs over 10 innings, along with five walks and 13 strikeouts.
However, his final week saw a dip in form, surrendering two homers and four runs in just 3 innings, leading to his demotion back to Triple-A.
He was briefly called up again on June 19th, where he struggled in 1.1 innings against Minnesota, giving up a run and walking three.

Since then, Mey has been strong in Louisville, posting a 2.20 ERA over 16.1 innings. In that span, he’s allowed nine hits, no home runs, walked eight, and struck out 18, holding a 28% strikeout rate across 64 batters faced.
Mey’s biggest challenge remains consistency—particularly with his control. While he’s had stretches of dominance, occasional outings where he loses command have proven costly for both him and the team.
When he’s in the zone, though, he can be nearly unhittable.
