Texas Faces Devastating Blow as Fan Favorite Player finally Goes Down With Critical Injury, Shaking Up Roster and Threatening Playoff Run

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday after undergoing an appendectomy the day before in Mansfield, Texas, performed by Dr. Garish Alexander.

Seager exited Wednesday’s 20-3 win after four innings with abdominal pain, later diagnosed as appendicitis, though he had already homered earlier in the game.

Team president Chris Young said Seager hasn’t ruled out a return this season.

The five-time All-Star is hitting .271 with 21 home runs and 50 RBIs in 102 games despite battling multiple injuries this year.

In a corresponding move, Texas called up Dylan Moore from Triple-A Round Rock.

The 33-year-old signed with the club on Wednesday after being released by the Seattle Mariners on Aug. 25.

Moore went 1-for-4 that night with Round Rock, and after batting .193 with nine homers and 19 RBIs in 88 MLB games this year, he now slots into the Rangers’ lineup—starting at first base and batting ninth Friday against Oakland.

Ezequiel Durán will cover shortstop, hitting second.

To make room, outfielder Evan Carter (broken right wrist) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
