Mike Kafka remains with the New York Giants as offensive coordinator, a surprising fact given his previous success and the speculation that he might land a head coaching role elsewhere. Last season, Brian Daboll took over play-calling duties after the Giants ranked near the bottom of the league in scoring and total offense.
Now, Kafka says he’s back in rhythm and ready to take control of the offense again, stressing that his focus is on working closely with players and tailoring the game plan to their strengths.
Kafka also noted that he plans to call plays from the sideline this season so he can communicate directly with players and build stronger connections.

With more talent on the roster in 2025 — including veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, plus rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart — the pressure is on both Daboll and Kafka to finally get the Giants back to the playoffs after years of struggles.
Asked about Dart specifically, Kafka said the rookie quarterback is right on schedule with his preparation and could step in if needed. Although Dart is currently listed as the backup, Kafka emphasized that everyone in the quarterback room, including Winston, must be ready to play at any moment.
