Nobody Expected This: Doctors Said Six Weeks, But Rangers key player confirm Shocking Return to the team to Save Season”

On Aug. 17, 2025, in Toronto, Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien recorded a single against the Blue Jays during the seventh inning at Rogers Centre.

Semien revealed Wednesday that he hopes to return from a fractured left foot before the regular season ends. The injury occurred on Aug. 21 when he fouled a pitch off the top of his foot against the Kansas City Royals. It marks just the second injured list stint of his 13-year career, the first coming back in 2017.

“In an ideal scenario, it’s probably a six-week recovery,” Semien said ahead of Wednesday’s matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers. “But I’m trying to push things with where we’re at right now.”

After Wednesday, the Rangers will have 15 games remaining as they battle for position in the AL West.

Texas entered the day in third place, 2.5 games behind the Houston Astros and one game back of the Seattle Mariners, who currently hold the final AL wild-card berth.

The three-time All-Star hinted at a possible return on Sept. 19 when the Rangers face the Miami Marlins. “I need to be smart about it,” Semien added. “At four weeks, there’s still risk. If I feel anything, it’s not worth pushing, but I’ll see if there’s a realistic chance to get back out there.”

This season, Semien is hitting .230 with 15 home runs, 62 RBIs, 16 doubles, and 11 stolen bases over 127 games.

For his career, the veteran infielder owns a .253 average with 253 home runs, 801 RBIs, and 139 steals in 1,629 games with the White Sox, Athletics, Blue Jays, and Rangers. He has logged 155 or more games in eight different seasons.
