The Texas Rangers turned in an underwhelming 2025 campaign, finishing at an even 81-81. Just two years removed from their 2023 World Series title, the team no longer resembles its former powerhouse self — but one potential move could give them the spark they desperately need to return to contention.
Christopher Kline of FanSided suggests that three-time All-Star and former MVP contender Fernando Tatis Jr. could be the answer. Pairing him with Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter would instantly create one of the most dynamic outfields in baseball.

Kline writes that the Rangers find themselves at a critical turning point. Bruce Bochy is gone, Skip Schumaker has taken over — a strong hire — but the roster is in need of major reshaping. Many of the veterans from their championship run are no longer performing at the same level. With several holes to address and the financial means to do so, Texas could make a major splash. Adding Tatis would form an elite trio with Carter and Langford, while potentially pushing Adolis García into the DH role or out of town to clear space.

Tatis is coming off a season in which he hit .268 with a .368 OBP and .446 slugging percentage, adding 27 doubles, 25 homers, 71 RBIs, and 32 steals across 155 games. He’d instantly become the focal point of both the outfield and the lineup.

Locked in through 2034, Tatis would also give the Rangers a long-term cornerstone to build around as they work to construct a legitimate contender for the future.
Ideally, Texas would keep Adolis García as the designated hitter to maximize their offensive upside. But if trading him becomes necessary to land Tatis, it may be a sacrifice the franchise has to consider.
