The Lee’s Summit Tigers have captured the Missouri Class 6 state high school football championship, edging out Nixa 41-37 in a high-scoring showdown at Spratt Memorial Stadium in St. Joseph during the final 2025 Show-Me Bowl of the season.
Lee’s Summit’s Preston Hatfield stole the spotlight with an astonishing performance, rushing for over 400 yards on the Missouri Western State University field and powering the Tigers’ comeback. Remarkably, the team rebounded from an 0-4 start to finish the season as state champions, capping off an incredible turnaround.
Nixa, finishing 13-1, settled for the Class 6 runner-up spot for the second straight year, continuing its streak of strong postseason performances.
It was another standout weekend for Kansas City-area high school football, as other state titles were decided:

Class 4: Kearney defeated Hannibal 21-14, claiming a perfect season and the school’s sixth state title.

Class 5: Platte County topped Carthage 34-28 in overtime for the championship.
