South Carolina linebacker Jaron Willis is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens in January, his agent confirmed on X/Twitter.
Willis, a redshirt junior with one year of eligibility remaining, began his college career at Ole Miss in 2022 before transferring to South Carolina in 2023, joining Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks roster.
The 6-foot-2, 254-pound linebacker contributed in 2025 by playing 11 games, recording seven tackles, and recovering two fumbles, one of which he returned for a touchdown against South Carolina State. Across his 20-game career with the Gamecocks, Willis totaled nine tackles, with most of his impact coming on special teams. His efforts earned him shared honors as the most improved special teams player for 2025, according to his USC bio.
Willis joins defensive lineman Zavion Hardy, offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, and tight end Michael Smith — who announced his transfer in October — as scholarship players leaving South Carolina via the portal.
