BREAKING: ECU Pirates Land Major Defensive Tackle Commit with Dutch Fork Star Joining the Ranks

 December 10, 2025

The East Carolina Pirates have made a big splash in their recruiting efforts by securing Dutch Fork standout Jaden Wuerth for their 2027 class. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound junior helped lead Dutch Fork to a state championship this season and is considered one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the region.

“This is an amazing opportunity,” Wuerth said. “Joining ECU and being part of this program is a dream come true. I’m ready to work hard and help the team achieve great things.”

A Standout High School Season

Wuerth’s junior season was remarkable. He tallied 62 tackles, including 18 for loss, 14 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles. In Dutch Fork’s state championship victory over Summerville, he added 2.5 sacks, cementing his reputation as a dominant force on the defensive line.

Why ECU?

Wuerth cited the Pirates’ coaching staff for emphasizing his motor, quickness, and strength — traits that allow him to pressure quarterbacks and change the flow of games. ECU’s history of developing high-level defensive linemen was also a major factor in his decision.

“They showed me how I could grow as a player and be part of something special,” Wuerth said. “I’m ready to contribute and make an impact right away.”

Impact on the Pirates

With Wuerth officially committed, ECU strengthens its defensive line and adds a high-motor, game-changing player to its roster. The Pirates now have a young, talented presence capable of making an immediate difference on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

“This is a big win for ECU football,” a source close to the program said. “Jaden brings championship experience, elite talent, and the kind of work ethic every coach wants on their team.”

Fans of the Pirates can now look forward to seeing Dutch Fork’s standout defensive tackle bring his skills and rising star potential to Greenville, where he’ll begin his journey with ECU football.
