South Carolina has landed a major addition to its defensive line with Dutch Fork standout Jaden Wuerth committing to the Gamecocks, joining his high school teammate Julian Walker. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound junior helped lead Dutch Fork to a state championship in 2025 and has quickly risen as one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the region.
“This is an incredible opportunity,” Wuerth said. “Playing with Julian again and being part of South Carolina’s program is a dream come true. I’m ready to work hard and help the team win.”
Dominant Season Elevates Recruiting Stock
Wuerth’s junior campaign was exceptional. He finished the season with 62 tackles, including 18 for loss, 14 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles. He recorded 2.5 sacks in Dutch Fork’s state championship win over Summerville, proving his ability to make game-changing plays.
His standout performance attracted offers from multiple major programs, including Georgia Tech, Clemson, Miami, Vanderbilt, Penn State, N.C. State, and Duke. Ultimately, the chance to reunite with Walker and South Carolina’s aggressive pursuit made the Gamecocks the ideal destination.
“Carolina really stood out after Julian committed,” Wuerth said. “They’re recruiting me hard, they’re close to home, and I love how they play. Playing with him again at this level will be a great experience.”
Why Wuerth Chose South Carolina
Wuerth said the Gamecock staff emphasized his strength, quickness, and relentless motor — qualities that make him a disruptive presence in the trenches. He also praised the program’s history of developing defensive linemen into elite players.
“Knowing I can grow at South Carolina and reach the next level played a big role in my decision,” Wuerth said.
Impact on the Gamecocks
Adding Wuerth strengthens South Carolina’s defensive front and gives the coaching staff a highly skilled, high-motor player ready to make an impact. Pairing him with Julian Walker provides a proven chemistry that could translate into immediate success for the team.
“This is a big win for Carolina’s recruiting and the future of the defensive line,” a source familiar with the program said.
With Wuerth officially in the fold, South Carolina fans have plenty to be excited about as the duo from Dutch Fork prepares to bring their championship pedigree to Columbia.
