University of Missouri defensive end Zion Young was arrested early Saturday morning in Boone County on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The Missouri State Highway Patrol took Young into custody around 1:40 a.m.
According to authorities, Young faces three charges: driving while intoxicated, speeding, and failing to properly display a license plate. He was released at the scene on a summons and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz acknowledged the incident, stating that the program is aware of the situation and holds its student-athletes to high standards both on and off the field. He added that the matter will be addressed internally.
Young, who is in his final season with the Tigers, transferred to Mizzou after the 2023 season following two years at Michigan State. During the 2025 season, he recorded career-best numbers with 15 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
Missouri is scheduled to face Virginia in the Gator Bowl on Saturday, December 27.
