MAJOR BOOST:Phillies Bolster Rotation with 28-Year-Old Orioles Pitcher

The Philadelphia Phillies are taking a low-risk chance on free-agent right-hander Levi Stoudt, who officially joined the team on Tuesday, according to 7News Boston’s Ari Alexander.
Stoudt, 28, most recently played in the Baltimore Orioles organization. The 6-foot-1 righty was originally a third-round pick by the Seattle Mariners in 2019. His early career was slowed by Tommy John surgery, and he was later traded in 2022 from the Mariners to the Reds as part of the Luis Castillo deal.
He made his MLB debut in 2023, pitching 10.1 innings but allowing 11 runs. After returning to the Mariners via a 2024 waiver claim and then being waived again, the Orioles picked him up. Across the past two minor-league seasons, Stoudt has struggled with a 5.83 ERA, issues with strikeouts, and occasional control problems.
Despite his uneven track record, Stoudt has always had supporters, and the Phillies are the latest team to give him a shot. He is expected to start the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, with the opportunity to work toward another major-league call-up.
