BREAKING: KU Reserve Defensive Redd Set to Enter Transfer Portal

Kansas defensive end Caleb Redd plans to enter the transfer portal after just one season with the Jayhawks, according to On3.

Redd, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound redshirt freshman from St. Louis, was one of four defensive ends KU added in the 2025 transfer cycle, alongside Alex Bray, Justice Finkley, and Leroy Harris III. Unlike the other three, Redd saw limited action, appearing in just three games primarily on special teams. He recorded his first career tackle during Kansas’ game against Texas Tech on October 11. Prior to his time at KU, he played 12 defensive snaps for Kentucky as a freshman and had experience as a 3-4 outside linebacker in high school.

A three-star recruit from De Smet Jesuit High School, Redd still has three years of eligibility remaining. Despite his departure, Kansas remains well-stocked at defensive end. Bray is returning on the strong side, while Harris and Brinkley will anchor the weak side after solid performances. Other contributors include Dylan Brooks, who is returning from two missed seasons due to injury, and younger players like redshirts Adrian Holley and Garrett Martin, as well as incoming signees Hunter Higgins and Draeden Punt.

Redd’s exit adds to a growing number of scholarship players leaving Kansas, with the portal now expected to claim more than a dozen Jayhawks before it opens on January 2. KU has already secured one transfer for 2026, defensive tackle Jibriel Conde from the Division II ranks.
