George Fitzpatrick is preparing for a long-awaited return to the football field, as the Kansas State offensive lineman plans to come back for another season with the Wildcats following a serious health setback.
Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-9, 309-pound lineman, did not appear in a single game during the 2025 season after experiencing a medical issue during summer workouts in July. His agent, CJ Cavazos, confirmed to On3 that Fitzpatrick will return to Kansas State for the upcoming campaign, a major development for both the player and the program.
At the time of the incident, Kansas State and Fitzpatrick’s family released a statement noting that he had suffered a medical situation, the training staff responded quickly, and his condition was steadily improving. While his recovery allowed him to attend practices and remain on the sideline supporting teammates throughout the season, he was never medically cleared to play.
His absence was a blow to the Wildcats, as Fitzpatrick had been projected to start at left tackle. Former head coach Chris Klieman revealed at Big 12 Media Days that Fitzpatrick had worked his way to the top of the depth chart prior to the health scare.
Before transferring to Kansas State, Fitzpatrick was part of a national championship team at Ohio State. He moved to Manhattan seeking increased playing time and a larger role, goals that were put on hold by his medical setback.
Now reportedly healthy, Fitzpatrick is expected to finally get his opportunity on the field. His return could provide a significant boost to the Wildcats’ offensive line as they head into the 2026 season under new head coach Collin Klein.
