JUST-IN: Missouri Gets RT Boost as Alabama Tackle Commits to Take the Starting Role for 2026

Missouri football is set to strengthen its offensive line for the 2026 season with the addition of  a former right tackle from Alabama. After entering the transfer portal, Formby has committed to the Tigers and is expected to assume the starting right tackle position immediately.

Wilkin Formby

Formby brings significant experience from one of college football’s premier programs. He started 14 games in 2025 for Alabama and appeared in 27 career games, logging over 1,070 snaps. During his time with the Crimson Tide, Formby gained valuable exposure to high-pressure situations, including College Football Playoff competition, providing him with skills and leadership that Missouri is eager to integrate into its offensive line.

The Tigers have faced roster turnover on the offensive line this offseason, with several linemen leaving via the transfer portal. Formby’s arrival addresses a critical need at right tackle, bringing proven pass-blocking and run-blocking ability, as well as veteran leadership to a position that is essential for protecting the quarterback and opening running lanes.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz expressed optimism about the addition:

“Wilkin brings high-level experience and toughness. He’s exactly the kind of player we need to anchor our offensive line and help elevate our offense for 2026,” Drinkwitz said.

Formby’s commitment also reflects a growing trend of top-tier players from powerhouse programs entering the transfer portal to make an immediate impact at new schools. For Missouri, a program aiming to compete at the top of the SEC, this move strengthens the offensive line and adds a reliable starter at a position that has been affected by recent departures.

The Tigers plan to integrate Formby during spring practice, and he is expected to start immediately, giving Missouri one of the most experienced offensive tackles in the conference heading into the 2026 season. His presence could be pivotal in improving both pass protection and the running game, while also providing a stabilizing veteran influence for younger players on the line.
