USC has officially lost one of the top quarterbacks from its recent recruiting classes, as five-star freshman has entered the NCAA transfer portal and chosen the Kansas State Wildcats as his new team.
Husan Longstreet
Longstreet’s decision comes during a period of significant roster changes for USC following the end of the season. The elite freshman informed the Trojans of his intentions before finalizing his transfer, giving Kansas State a major boost at the quarterback position.
Originally from Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., Longstreet was one of the nation’s top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He joined USC with expectations of competing for the starting role under head coach Lincoln Riley and impressed in early spring practices. However, returning starter Jayden Maiava secured the QB1 spot and has already announced he will return for the upcoming season.

Facing a crowded quarterback room and limited immediate opportunities, Longstreet opted for a fresh start. Kansas State quickly emerged as his preferred destination, offering a path to early playing time and a chance to make an immediate impact under the Wildcats’ system.
The addition of Longstreet is a major win for Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman, as the Wildcats secure a highly rated quarterback with Power Five experience and high-level talent. His arrival immediately strengthens the Wildcats’ quarterback room and gives the program a potential centerpiece for the offense in 2026 and beyond.
For USC, the loss of Longstreet is another blow amid ongoing roster transitions. Originally a Texas A&M commit, Longstreet had flipped to USC during the 2025 recruiting cycle and was expected to be a key part of the Trojans’ future plans at quarterback.
Now with Kansas State, Longstreet brings elite arm strength, mobility, and experience from a top recruiting class. Wildcats fans can anticipate that he will compete for the starting job right away and could quickly become one of the most high-profile quarterbacks in the Big 12.
