JUST-IN: USC Five-Star QB Departs Trojans, Selects Washington as Transfer Destination

USC has officially lost one of the top prospects from its recent recruiting haul, as five-star quarterback has entered the NCAA transfer portal and chosen the Washington Huskies as his new home.

Husan Longstreet

Longstreet’s decision comes during a period of significant roster movement for the Trojans following the end of the season. After informing USC of his intent to explore his options, the highly regarded freshman quarterback finalized his transfer to Seattle, giving Washington a major boost at the most important position on the field.

One of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle, Longstreet arrived at USC with high expectations under head coach Lincoln Riley. He showed promise during spring practices and early evaluations but ultimately found himself behind returning starter Jayden Maiava, who locked up QB1 duties and announced his return for another season.

Facing a crowded quarterback room and limited short-term opportunities, Longstreet opted for a fresh start. Washington quickly emerged as his top choice, offering a clearer path to competition and a system well-suited to his skill set.

The move is a significant win for Washington head coach Jedd Fisch, who continues to reshape the Huskies’ roster through high-impact recruiting and transfer additions. Adding a former five-star quarterback with Power Five experience immediately raises expectations for Washington’s offense and long-term outlook.

For USC, the loss is notable. Longstreet was once viewed as a cornerstone of the Trojans’ future at quarterback after flipping his commitment from Texas A&M during the recruiting process. His departure underscores the ongoing challenges of roster management in the transfer portal era.

Now headed to Washington, the former Centennial High School (Corona, Calif.) standout will look to reestablish himself and compete for playing time right away. With his arm talent, mobility, and pedigree, Longstreet is expected to factor heavily into the Huskies’ quarterback plans and could become a central figure in Washington’s next chapter.
