BREAKING: Juan Soto Named East Carolina Wide Receivers Coach

East Carolina has officially added Juan Soto to its football staff, naming him the Pirates’ wide receivers coach, head coach Blake Harrell announced Monday.

Soto joins ECU after spending the last two seasons (2024–25) at the University of North Texas, where he served as assistant wide receivers coach under offensive coordinator Jordan Davis. During his time with the Mean Green, Soto was part of one of the most productive offenses in the nation.

In the 2025 season, Soto helped develop First-Team All-American Conference wide receiver Wyatt Young, who led North Texas with 70 receptions for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns. Young ranked among the national FBS leaders in multiple receiving categories, while Cameron Dorner added 56 catches for 911 yards and eight scores. That same year, UNT led the nation in scoring offense, total offense and first downs, while ranking among the top 10 nationally in passing offense and team passing efficiency.

Soto also played a key role in UNT’s offensive success during the 2024 season, when the Mean Green finished third nationally in total offense and fourth in passing offense, setting program records in passing yards per game.

Prior to North Texas, Soto spent the 2023 season at Wagner College as the pass game coordinator and recruiting coordinator, helping guide the Seahawks to the third-best passing offense in the Northeast Conference. He previously coached at Yale, Saginaw Valley State, Ventura College and Kent State, contributing to conference championships at multiple stops.

A former wide receiver at Ventura College, Soto brings both playing and coaching experience to Greenville. Originally from Miami, Florida, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saginaw Valley State and a master’s degree in sports administration from Kent State.

Soto’s hire adds proven offensive experience to the East Carolina staff as the Pirates prepare for the upcoming season.
