East Carolina has landed a major addition at quarterback, as Texas Tech transfer has officially committed to the Pirates, strengthening ECU’s quarterback depth heading into the new season.
Mitch Griffis
Griffis arrives in Greenville after spending the 2025 season with Texas Tech, bringing valuable Power Four experience to the program. Before his time with the Red Raiders, he began his college career at Wake Forest, where he developed into a seasoned and reliable signal-caller over four seasons.

During his lone season at Texas Tech, Griffis appeared in multiple games and impressed in relief action, completing passes at an efficient rate while displaying poise, sound decision-making and mobility. His experience running high-level offenses made him a key target for the Pirates in the transfer portal.
The commitment reflects head coach Blake Harrell’s continued push to upgrade the roster with proven veterans. Griffis adds leadership, experience and immediate competition at the quarterback position.
With the transfer quarterback now officially in the fold, East Carolina continues to build momentum as it prepares for the upcoming season, adding stability at one of the most important positions on the field.
