The Missouri Tigers have added another piece to their offensive line puzzle, landing veteran tackle Josh Atkins from Arizona State, the player announced on Instagram Thursday. Atkins, who has one season of eligibility remaining, is set to bring immediate experience to coach Eli Drinkwitz’s squad.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 310 pounds, Atkins has started 39 consecutive games at tackle, beginning with his 2023 season at Hawaii. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with Arizona State and also spent two years (2021–2022) at Houston, where he didn’t see game action but developed a connection with Missouri’s current offensive line coach Brandon Jones, who coached him at Houston from 2019–2022.
Atkins is the second offensive lineman Missouri has acquired from the transfer portal this cycle. Just a day prior, the Tigers secured former Mississippi State lineman Luke Work, who brings versatility across the line except at center.
With Atkins or Work potentially starting at left tackle, Cayden Green could return to left guard, where he was a consistent starter for Missouri in 2024 and at Oklahoma in 2023. Green spent the 2025 season at left tackle, a position he hadn’t played regularly since his first game at Oklahoma in 2023.
The Missouri offensive line was a major area of need entering the portal, with eight linemen from the 2025 roster either exhausting eligibility or transferring elsewhere. The additions of Atkins and Work aim to stabilize the line and provide experience for a unit crucial to the Tigers’ 2026 success.
