Greenville native and former NC State running back has committed to East Carolina University, choosing to return home to complete his college football career with the Pirates.
Michael Allen , a standout at J.H. Rose High School, originally signed with NC State out of high school before entering the transfer portal earlier this offseason. During his time with the Wolfpack, he contributed as both a rusher and receiver, gaining valuable experience in ACC competition that he now brings back to his hometown program.

The move to ECU gives Allen the opportunity to play in front of a local crowd while immediately bolstering the Pirates’ backfield depth. His versatility as a ball-carrier and receiver adds a new dynamic to the ECU offense, which is looking to strengthen its running game heading into the 2026 season.
Head coach Blake Harrell and his staff have emphasized local recruiting and experienced transfers as key pieces to building a competitive roster. Allen’s addition reflects that strategy while providing a hometown talent who can make an immediate impact.
Fans can expect Allen to take part in spring practices as ECU looks to integrate him into the offense and maximize his experience for a strong finish to his college career.
