South Carolina has landed its first offensive line commitment of the current transfer portal window, taking an important step toward reinforcing the trenches as the program reshapes its roster this offseason.
The Gamecocks added veteran interior lineman Carter Miller, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound transfer from UCF, following a campus visit over the weekend. Miller made his commitment official on Tuesday, giving South Carolina an experienced presence up front after a challenging 4–8 campaign that exposed depth and consistency issues along the offensive line.
Miller’s college journey began at James Madison before he transferred to Louisiana-Monroe, where he started every game during the 2024 season. He later moved on to UCF and earned nine starts before an injury shortened his most recent year. Across his career, Miller has appeared in 36 games with 29 starts, showcasing the durability and flexibility South Carolina covets as it rebuilds its interior line.
With the ability to play both center and guard, Miller is expected to compete immediately for playing time in 2026. His experience should help stabilize pass protection and improve run blocking, two areas the Gamecocks are prioritizing as they revamp the offense.
Miller becomes South Carolina’s third transfer portal addition of the offseason, joining wide receiver Jayden Gibson and defensive lineman Jordan Thomas. Head coach Shane Beamer and his staff continue to lean heavily on the portal as they work to accelerate the program’s return to SEC competitiveness.
