JUST-IN: Kansas State Lands Top Transfer QB, Edges Out LSU with Bigger Offer Despite $3.5 Million Bid

The Kansas State Wildcats have pulled off a major coup in the transfer portal, securing quarterback from the Cincinnati Bearcats, outbidding LSU, which had offered a $3.5 million deal.

Brendan Sorsby , one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the portal, had drawn nationwide attention for his dual-threat ability and consistent production at Cincinnati. Kansas State’s offer of $5 million, a direct deal through the university, proved irresistible compared to LSU’s unique NIL arrangement facilitated through Playfly Sports Properties and NILSU MAX. According to Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger, Sorsby chose the Wildcats, giving head coach Collin Klein a proven playmaker to lead the offense in 2026.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback has shown his talent against top competition, including standout games versus Baylor. His arrival gives Kansas State an immediate upgrade under center and positions the Wildcats to compete for a top finish in the Big 12.

The deal also underscores how NIL agreements and transfer portal competition are reshaping college football, with schools now leveraging direct payments, revenue-sharing, and marketing guarantees to secure top talent.

With Brendan Sorsby in Manhattan, Kansas State has filled a crucial gap at quarterback and strengthened its outlook for the upcoming season, aiming to build on recent successes and contend for a conference title.
