The Missouri Tigers have officially added the former Clemson offensive coordinator, to their coaching staff as an offensive assistant, the program confirmed Friday.
Garrett Riley
Riley joins Missouri in a non-coordinator role, as the Tigers previously named Chip Lindsey as offensive coordinator following the departure of Kirby Moore. The exact scope of Riley’s responsibilities has not yet been publicly detailed, though his background suggests involvement with offensive game planning and quarterback development.
Throughout his coaching career, Riley has built a reputation as one of college football’s sharpest offensive minds, serving as both offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at multiple stops. Missouri had Sean Gleeson working with quarterbacks during the 2025 season, leaving room for Riley to play a significant role in that area moving forward.
Riley, the younger brother of USC head coach Lincoln Riley, spent the last three seasons at Clemson. His tenure ended after a disappointing 2025 campaign in which the Tigers’ offense failed to meet expectations despite returning veteran quarterback Cade Klubnik.
Despite his exit from Clemson, Riley brings elite credentials to Columbia. He was the architect of TCU’s high-powered offense during its remarkable 2022 run to the national championship game, earning the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach that season.
With Riley now officially on staff, Missouri looks to take another step forward in 2026, bolstering an offensive unit already undergoing significant changes under head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
