JUST-IN: Jedd Fisch Confirms Blockbuster Adam Mohammed Replacement UW Needed

Washington head coach Jedd Fisch has officially addressed the Huskies’ biggest offseason question at running back, confirming that the program has secured a major transfer portal addition to offset the loss of Adam Mohammed.

Mohammed’s departure to Cal created an immediate hole in Washington’s backfield. Along with Jonah Coleman leaving for the NFL Draft, the Huskies suddenly found themselves without their top two rushers from last season. Fisch acknowledged the urgency of the situation and made it clear that adding an experienced running back through the portal was a priority.

That need has now been filled with a high-profile pickup from Washington’s fiercest rival: Jayden Limar. The veteran back arrives with three seasons of Power Five experience, giving UW a proven option to stabilize a young running back room heading into the 2026 season.

Jayden Limar brings versatility that Fisch values highly — experience in a rotational role, special teams production, and proven postseason impact. During the 2025 season, he posted career-best numbers and delivered in high-leverage moments, including a memorable special teams touchdown in the College Football Playoff.

From a roster standpoint, the move is significant. Jordan Washington, who redshirted last season, is currently the most experienced returner after logging 27 carries for 233 yards and a touchdown. Beyond him, the Huskies are heavy on youth. Jayden Limar gives Washington a steady presence who can handle early-down carries, contribute in pass protection, and mentor younger backs.

Fisch also emphasized the importance of competition. Rather than handing the job to one player, the coaching staff plans to let the backfield roles shake out through spring and fall camp. The incoming transfer, Jayden Limar, will compete for immediate playing time and could emerge as either a lead back or a key rotational piece.

Beyond the on-field impact, the storyline carries extra weight. Jayden Limar returns home to the state of Washington after spending his college career on the other side of the rivalry, making the move both practical and symbolic for the Huskies.

With the addition confirmed, Washington continues to build momentum in the transfer portal, reinforcing its roster ahead of a pivotal 2026 campaign under Fisch.
