In a huge recruiting win, the nation’s No. 1 interior offensive lineman and a five-star prospect in the Class of 2027, has committed to South Carolina.
Maxwell Hiller, who stands 6-foot-5 and roughly 300 pounds, is widely regarded as a generational talent in the trenches. According to the latest 247Sports rankings, he is No. 4 overall nationally and the top player in Pennsylvania, making him one of the most coveted offensive line prospects in the country.
This commitment marks a major early victory for the Gamecocks, especially as Hiller had recently scheduled his first official visit to Columbia from June 19–21. The visit gave South Carolina’s coaching staff, now led on the line by Randy Clements, a chance to impress him directly, even amid a recent coaching change.

Hiller praised the Gamecocks for maintaining a strong recruiting pitch despite staff turnover. “I’ve always had a great relationship with the program,” he said. “I still feel the same about South Carolina, and I’m excited to join the team and build with the new coaches.”
Interior offensive linemen of Hiller’s caliber are rare, and landing him is expected to have an immediate impact on South Carolina’s recruiting momentum. Programs in the SEC covet players like him, who can anchor a line and elevate the team’s performance deep into the season.
With Hiller now officially in the fold, the Gamecocks have secured a cornerstone for the offensive line, a player expected to make an early impact and help define the program’s success for years to come.
