The South Carolina Gamecocks made a major addition to their 2026 roster, securing a commitment from former Texas running back. A highly regarded 4-star prospect from the class of 2024, Clark was one of the top running backs still available in the transfer portal.
Christian Clark entered the portal after Texas signed Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers this offseason, which limited his opportunities with the Longhorns. Despite limited playing time, he was productive in 2025, rushing for 236 yards and two touchdowns on 55 carries, while also catching four passes for 57 yards.
Now at South Carolina, Clark is expected to be a featured player in the Gamecocks’ backfield. The program struggled with its rushing attack in 2025, but has invested heavily in both its offensive line and running back depth this offseason to improve the running game.

Clark joins two other transfers at the position: former Penn State running back Jabree Coleman and ex-Ohio State back Sam Dixon. With this trio, South Carolina hopes to significantly upgrade its ground game for the 2026 season.
With Clark’s commitment, South Carolina now has 19 transfers in its 2026 class, which is currently ranked No. 19 nationally, according to 247Sports.
