SET BACK: K-State Loses Proven Playmaker and Versatile Weapon, Leaving Position Vacant

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards is officially transferring to the Kansas Jayhawks, leaving the Wildcats with a significant gap in their backfield. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound player was a proven playmaker and versatile weapon, capable of contributing both as a rusher and a receiver, and his departure creates a key void for K-State heading into the 2026 season.

Edwards began his college career at Colorado before spending two seasons at K-State, where he accumulated 1,072 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with 58 catches for 449 yards and six receiving scores. His most memorable performance came in the 2024 Rate Bowl, when he totaled 223 yards and three touchdowns, highlighting his ability to change the game with a single explosive play.

Although his final season at K-State was marred by injuries and limited playing time, Edwards still demonstrated his potential in standout games, including a 166-yard rushing performance against UCF. With his departure, the Wildcats must now identify a player or combination of players to fill the void and maintain offensive production.

A former four-star recruit from Derby, Kansas, Edwards initially committed to K-State before flipping to Notre Dame and later enrolling at Colorado. Now returning to his home state, he brings immediate talent and versatility to Kansas, while K-State adjusts to life without one of its most dynamic offensive threats in recent years.
