East Carolina has officially bolstered its quarterback room, landing 3-star recruit to fill a critical roster need following the departure of key signal-callers. Williams, who was previously with Miami, enters the American Athletic Conference team with two seasons of eligibility remaining, giving the Pirates a promising option at the position.
Emory Williams joined Miami in 2023 and gained valuable experience during his tenure, including backing up Cam Ward in 2024 and taking snaps behind starter Carson Beck. After the Hurricanes’ recent national championship loss to Indiana, Williams entered the transfer portal and quickly found a new opportunity with East Carolina.
The 6-foot-5 passer brings size and athleticism to the Pirates’ offense and is expected to step in as a key contributor immediately. His arrival comes at a crucial time for East Carolina, as the program looks to rebuild and maintain competitiveness after losing key players at quarterback.

Pirates head coach and staff have expressed optimism about Williams’ addition, noting that his experience in a major program and familiarity with high-level competition should help ease the transition and provide leadership on and off the field.
With Williams joining the roster, East Carolina hopes to stabilize a position that had been thin and position itself for a competitive 2026 season in the AAC. The Pirates now turn their focus to integrating Williams into their system and preparing him for a starting role as spring practice approaches.
