Washington added another major piece to its future offense on Thursday, securing a commitment from four-star wide receiver out of Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona. The Huskies won a heated recruiting battle, beating out Oklahoma, Arizona State, and USC for one of the West’s top pass-catching prospects.
Zerek Sidney is rated by 247Sports as the No. 36 wide receiver in the 2027 class and brings an intriguing blend of speed, polish, and playmaking ability. Standing at 6-foot and around 180 pounds, he’s known for his sharp route running and knack for creating separation against defenders.
Although injuries slowed his most recent season, Sidney already proved his upside earlier in his career. As a sophomore, he posted 45 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns, production that helped put him firmly on the national recruiting radar.
Head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff have made it clear that upgrading the wide receiver room is a top priority, and Sidney fits exactly what Washington is looking for. His skill set and competitiveness have drawn comparisons to Dezmen Roebuck, who made an immediate impact for the Huskies.
With Sidney’s commitment, Washington continues to build momentum on the trail. Pairing him with in-state pledge Braylon Pope, the Huskies are shaping an exciting and talent-rich receiver group that signals a strong future for UW’s passing attack
