The new quarterback for East Carolina Pirates, has joined the team with a wealth of experience.
Griffis, who previously played for Wake Forest and Texas Tech, brings a battle-tested veteran presence to the Pirates.
He started 10 games at Wake Forest across the 2022 and 2023 seasons and served as a backup at Texas Tech in 2025.
Griffis’ addition is part of ECU’s roster reshaping ahead of the 2026 season. The Pirates lost quarterback Katin Houser to Illinois, and Griffis will compete with Emory Williams for the starting job.
Griffis familiarity with similar offenses, thanks to his previous coaches, could give him an edge.
With one year of eligibility left, Griffis is expected to make an immediate impact.
The Pirates’ new offensive coordinator, Jordan Davis, is familiar with Griffis’ playing style, having worked with similar systems at North Texas.
This could help Griffis settle in quickly and contribute to the team’s success.
