Although the Los Angeles Angels may not be considered favorites in the AL West and still have plenty of work ahead as they build toward the future, there are still a few encouraging signs surrounding the club.
One of the biggest sources of excitement is the potential return of Mike Trout, along with several young prospects hoping to make an impact at the Major League level.
Spring Training always offers a chance to evaluate emerging talent, and this year is no different for the Angels as they watch their young players develop.
According to Rhett Bollinger of Major League Baseball, one prospect generating plenty of buzz this spring is right-handed pitcher George Klassen.
The former Philadelphia Phillies prospect was acquired in the trade that sent reliever Carlos Estévez to Philadelphia, and he has already started to turn heads during camp.

Klassen made his Spring Training debut on Wednesday against a lineup filled with regulars from the San Diego Padres.
He impressed immediately, tossing two scoreless innings and demonstrating the potential that has made him one of the Angels’ top prospects.
Bollinger noted that if Klassen continues refining his command, he could even work his way into the team’s rotation early in the season.
During that outing, Klassen struck out several notable hitters, including Manny Machado, Jackson Merrill, and Ty France.
His fastball averaged an impressive 97.8 mph, and he complemented it with an effective mix of secondary pitches such as a curveball, slider, and changeup, making for a strong first appearance this spring.
Klassen allowed just one hit and hit a batter in the outing, highlighting both his electric arsenal and the area he still needs to improve—control.
His minor league numbers from last season show that same mix of dominance and inconsistency, as he posted a 5.22 ERA across 25 starts and 108.2 innings while recording an eye-catching 234 strikeouts alongside 47 walks.
While he may still need some time before becoming a consistent contributor in the majors, Klassen’s promising debut has created optimism for both Bollinger and the Angels as they evaluate his potential role during the 2026 season. ⚾
