Just In: Veteran MLB Reliever Officially Parts Ways with Texas Rangers, Poised to Make Big Splash in Free Agency and Eye Next Career Move

Veteran right-handed reliever Ryan Brasier is officially a free agent after the Texas Rangers announced on Saturday that they had granted him a release from his minor league contract.

At 38 years old, Brasier has spent nearly a decade in Major League Baseball, carving out a role as a reliable bullpen arm for several teams.

While the Rangers opted to part ways, Brasier’s experience and track record in high-leverage situations make him a potential target for clubs looking to add veteran depth to their pitching staff.

Last season with the Chicago Cubs, Brasier struggled to find his usual consistency, recording a 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA in 28 appearances.

Despite the rough stretch, his career numbers reflect his value as a late-inning option, including a 10-9 record, a 3.90 ERA, and 10 saves across nine MLB seasons.

Known for his steady arm and ability to handle pressure situations, Brasier has shown flashes of the form that allowed him to contribute meaningfully in both setup and closer roles throughout his career.

Brasier’s journey through the majors has been marked by stops with multiple organizations, including the Los Angeles Angels in 2013, the Boston Red Sox from 2018 to 2023, the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023–24, and the Cubs in 2025.

Each stop provided him with a mix of challenges and opportunities, helping him develop into a seasoned veteran capable of mentoring younger pitchers while delivering in crucial moments.

With his release from the Rangers, Brasier is now free to explore opportunities with other MLB teams in need of experienced bullpen arms heading into the new season.
