Future Locked: Tennessee Football Strikes Big in Home-State Recruiting, Snags Four-Star Wide Receiver Despite Offers from Several Elite Programs

Tennessee wrapped up its 2026 recruiting class ranked inside the national top 10 according to On3 Sports, and the Volunteers are already building momentum for 2027 with four early commits, placing them 16th nationally.

As they look to strengthen that class—especially within the state—one major target stands out: four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, ranked by On3 as the No. 41 overall player in the country, the fifth-best receiver, and the No. 2 prospect in Tennessee.

Bowman, a standout from Brentwood Academy, was previously committed to Oregon Ducks before reopening his recruitment on September 19.

Since then, he’s taken multiple visits and initially planned to announce his decision on February 10, but has slightly delayed it to February 12, as reported by Chad Simmons.

He has narrowed his choices to a final five: Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Vanderbilt Commodores, Miami Hurricanes, and Oregon, setting up a tightly contested recruitment.

Although Bowman was expected to visit Tennessee in January for a basketball game against Kentucky Wildcats, he instead competed in a 7-on-7 event in Florida.

His last trip to Knoxville may have been earlier in the fall, when he attended the Volunteers’ overtime clash with Georgia Bulldogs—a visit that came just days before his Oregon decommitment.

Tennessee remains firmly in contention and sees him as a potential early-impact player.

On the field, Bowman delivered a strong junior campaign with 49 receptions for 665 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping Brentwood Academy reach a state championship appearance before falling to Baylor School.

He also boosted his national profile at the Under Armour All-American Game, where he was named one of the top performers during practice sessions despite competing against older elite prospects.

At 6-foot-1 with elite athleticism, Bowman is a dynamic receiver who excels in one-on-one matchups and even shows advanced blocking ability on film.

His overall skill set makes him one of the most complete and sought-after wideouts in the 2027 class, capable of making an immediate impact wherever he commits.
