Jaden Butler has decided to stay close to home, officially giving his oral commitment to play for the Tennessee Volunteers, marking the fifth addition to the 2027 recruiting class.

The 3-star prospect from Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee, chose the Volunteers over offers from programs such as Indiana, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas, and was recruited by assistant coach Anthony Poindexter.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 190 pounds, Butler is a multi-sport athlete who also excels in basketball. During the 2025 season, he recorded 25 solo tackles, 40 total tackles, six interceptions, and three tackles for loss for the 8-3 Tomcats.
Butler also made a significant impact on offense, leading the team with 31 receptions for 540 yards and 11 touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 503 yards and nine scores. His standout season earned him the Region 8-4A MVP award and recognition as a TSWA All-State selection.
Ranked No. 23 in Tennessee and No. 36 nationally among athletes in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, Butler is projected primarily as a safety at the collegiate level.
The Volunteers kick off their 2026 campaign on Sept. 5 at home against Furman, with non-conference games at Georgia Tech and against Kennesaw State before opening SEC play against Texas on Sept. 26.
